One year later!

This blog has been pretty much inactive for the last year. A lot has changed in that time, so here's an update...

In the fall of last year, inspired be seeing Gillian Welch & David Rawlings with Old Crow Medicine Show, and opening for The Mammals, Rachel Eddy began thinking about putting a band together. Over the winter holidays, she got together with Scott Phillips, Jason Jaros and Walt Sarkees, just to do some pickin'. The tunes felt so good that it was decided Rachel would have a band with her at her already scheduled appearance on West Virginia Public Radio's Music From The Mountains. Two weeks of rehearsals later, the Morgantown Rounders made their debut.

The Mo'Town Rounders (for short) played their first live set at the Metropolitan Theatre as part of the Gardner Winter Warmup Concert on Frebruary 18, 2005. They followed with a two-set show at the Rosewood Theatre on March 5 to a big audience who danced through the night. After only six months, the band has rapidly developed a loyal audience at the Rosewood and had a big ol' time playing the Cheat River Festival. A CD is in the works as well as a whole new web site at morgantownrounders.com. Upcoming shows include the Purple Fiddle, the New Deal Festival and Chestnut Ridge Park.

Rachel's fiddle tune record sits quietly, in limbo. No decision has been made about a release. You can find her at the Augusta Heritage Center for three weeks this year, beginning with Cajun Week in July.

Rachel's CD hit with an unfortunate delay. Entire record almost lost. Entire record recovered. Great news all around. However, we lost about 6 weeks and a few bucks in the project. We should have an idea about a release date some time in May.

Banjos for Peace now needs your help more than ever. Please buy a T-shirt. Please? Buy lots of them. Tell friends. Wear your BANJOS, NOT BOMBS shirt to Clifftop or Augusta this summer.

Thanks!
